FPGC Report: P5a Fruit Art

P5a have been doing fruit art. Some of the fruits we used are Pineapples, Oranges, Grapes, Cherrys, Watermelon, Banana, Apple, Blueberry, and Blackberry. After everyone had drawn all of their faces, they coloured them in. We all cut them and stuck them on a piece of card. Then drew some fruit around them.

FPGC Report: Human Body and P.E

Our class and p5a have been learning about the human body and we have learnt about the muscles and plane joints and other ones as well. We also learnt that the eyes can trick you and your brain and we were looking at optical illusions.

At the PY we do gym with Mr Dickie and Dale we also do basketball with Dale. We like it and we go every Wednesday until Summer.

P6bs topic is about energy. We made different kinds of energy like coal power/nuclear power/solar panles/wind turbines.

FPGC Report: P6 and Mr Calpin

Every Wednesday morning, in the library, music teacher Mr Calpin has been teaching p6 pupils how to play the cornet. They have been learning lots of tunes such as the old favourite Old MacDonald and also a French classic. Over the last few weeks the small group has chosen a new name called The Fantastic 5.

The Fantastic 5 (George, Georgia, John, Abbey and Tyler) have accepted a great opportunity to play at the Queens Hall with many other musicians, there will be both Brass and Woodwind.

Well last Thursday we were all treated to a performance by all year groups at our Scottish Assembly to celebrate all things Scottish. Here are a few pictures to show you what classes got up to. It was also nice to see some parents and carers attend to watch their children.

Lickety Spit Theatre Group in the Nursery!

Some of the children in the nursery have been taking part in a drama production organised by Lickety Spit theatre group. The children went on journey to help two ladies, both called Margaret meet their heart’s desire; they had to pretend to travel through mud, cross the sea and climb a mountain., but finally got to the top by helping each other. Both sessions were filmed and the children’s parents and carers will get a chance to see the film very soon.

Farewell Mrs MacLennan!

In the first week of term we said good-bye to another teacher. Mrs Susan MacLennan is leaving Forthview for two years to work in a language unit. All the staff and children came to-gether to wish her good luck in her new job. Although we don’t have a photograph of Mr Wright giving Mrs MacLennan her big kiss! We do have a picture of Bartosz presenting her with some beautiful flowers.

Returning for 2012!

Well we left last year with a big celebration, in our Christmas final day assembly we had our musicians and choir performing and the primary 7s started the assembly with a candle ceremony. It was brilliant, but unfortunately we did say goodbye to Mrs Vacher who will be missed lots, she left with a big kiss from Mr Wright and Mr Heron (see all the pictures below). Remember we are back for a new school term on Tuesday (10.1.12), to start another great term at Forthview!

Mrs Chucklebutty's Magic Show

On Wednesday 7th December, the nursery all went to North Edinburgh Childcare to see Mrs Chucklebutty's Magic Show. We really enjoyed this as you can see form the photographs and we never stopped laughing for the whole hour!

Nursery Countdown to Christmas

On Thursday, P1-4 travelled to Brunton Theatre in Musselburgh to see Aladdin. Everyone absolutely loved it, even the teachers! We all especially loved the jumping song where we had to jump as fast as we could to create an earthquake to scare the dragon away in the creepy cave. Here are some pictures of our journey to the Pantomime.

Children in Need 2011 (18.11.11)

Today was Children in Need and everyone at Forthview came dressed in their pyjamas or in some other way. It was great to see so many children and teachers in their pyjamas raising money for Children in Need, where we raised around £270 which we will send to Radio Forth Cash for Kids. We even had a special assembly where Mr Wright introduced us to Renard the French Fox who gave Ms Bogey a kiss on the cheek, Mr Harris played us his didgeridoo, and the teachers got up to dance to YMCA with the children. Parental Open Morning (10.11.11)

It was lovely to have lots of parents and carers show up on Thursday for our Parental Open Morning which focused on Big Writing, and it was great to see them all enjoying being part of their children's writing lesson. The teacher's also enjoyed this extra time to meet the parents and get them involved in the writing lessons. There will be another Parental Open Morning in the near future, so if you couldn't make it to this one, we hope to see you at the next!
